History and Accomplishments of the Indy-Info Online/IAL#130 Website: 2011-2014

[Effective December 1, 2016 the facebook group page "Postal-Indy On Facebook", the website/blog "Postal-Indy" and Indy-Info Online/IAL#130 will cease to exist.]

GlennDL (1)Indy-Info Online/IAL#130 website was established in on January 1, 2011 and began with 20 articles taken from the archives of PoSTal-iNDy.com. Following the 2011 election and my appointment as Editor of the Locals newspaper, The Indy-Info Online/IAL#130 went online as the Local’s official website.
  • In the three years that I was editor of the Local’s website 432 articles were published online from 18 contributors (an average of one article every 2.5 days). During that period the website had 75,846 hits, the number of times those articles were viewed, meaning every article was viewed an average of 175 times. This also means the website averaged 175 hits/views per day. No submitted articles were rejected during this time.image
  • The websites coverage of the 2010 National Convention received 622 hits/views, and the 2012 National Convention received 577 hits/views. The daily convention reports were cited and linked to by all the major Postal websites (excluding APWU (which had its own daily coverage and USPS).
  • Daily coverage of the 2011, 2012, and 2013 State Conventions had a total of 875 hits/views.

In addition, as editor of the printed newspaper, Indy-Info, from 2011 to January of 2013:

  • The Indy-Info was published, on deadline every month for 20 months. In addition numerous Poster Bulletins in conjunction with the Entertainment Committee, Constitution Committee, Budget Committee and promotion of the website were also published and distributed.
  • The Indy-Info was edited, printed and distributed without ever exceeding its monthly budget of $300 a month (average). In contrast to past publishing cost ranging from $300 10 $1300 a publication.
  • During this period only five submitted articles (including one of my own) were not published. The subject matter of the articles were identical and submitted to the PPA for advise. Upon the PPAs reply I consulted with three of  the authors and by mutual agreement four of the articles were withdrawn. The fifth author did not reply to request for a discussion and the article was not printed pending a consultation. The decision on the articles were strictly my decision, articles were kept confidential and not shown to anyone else, including the Assistant Editor or the Local’s President..

All this was accomplished with only the editor and one assistant editor* and without one penny of lost time being taken.

All of the above had not been accomplished in the previous 10 years, or the years since my resignation in January of 2013.
